About the Artist

Old 97’s are a Dallas, Texas–born alt-country institution, blending country rock, power-pop hooks, and “loud folk” energy since the early ’90s. Fronted by singer-guitarist Rhett Miller with Murry Hammond (bass), Ken Bethea (lead guitar), and Philip Peeples (drums), the quartet helped define the ’90s alt-country wave and remains a celebrated live act. Their catalog spans thirteen studio albums—most recently American Primitive—and their songs have appeared widely on film/TV; the band even cameoed in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
