Orrin Evans is a Philadelphia-based jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader with over 30 years of recording and performing experience. He leads the Grammy-nominated Captain Black Big Band and is founder of Imani Records, and formerly served as a member of the acclaimed trio The Bad Plus from 2017 to 2021. Ranked #1 Rising Star Pianist in the DownBeat Critics Poll in 2018, Evans is known for his improvisational depth and command of everything from hard bop to avant-garde jazz.
