Makoto Ozone and Tommy Smith are a piano-saxophone duo whose partnership spans three decades, originating in Gary Burton's ECM Records quintet. Ozone is one of Japan's most celebrated jazz pianists; Smith is an Edinburgh-born tenor saxophonist, OBE honoree, and founder of the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. Their performances move fluidly between blues-inflected exchanges and delicate lyrical passages, built on deep mutual familiarity.
