About the Artist

G. Love & Special Sauce are Philadelphia originals and architects of “The Hip-Hop Blues,” blending laid-back delta blues, hip-hop cadences, funk, soul, and rock into a groove that’s uniquely their own. Formed in 1993 by Garrett “G. Love” Dutton with bassist Jim “Jimi Jazz” Prescott and drummer Jeffrey “Houseman” Clemens, the trio built a cult following on swaggering riffs, talk-sing storytelling, and elastic, jam-ready rhythms. Recent releases keep the sauce fresh—most recently “Ode to R.L.”—while the band’s catalog traces three decades of genre-bending, road-tested music.
